On 4 February 2018, we celebrated World Cancer Day in Mahajanga. Our goal was to raise awareness on the importance of preventive screening when it comes to preventing gynaecological and breast cancer, involving both medical professionals and the general public.
We achieved our goal through three different actions: television campaigns on local broadcasters, Post-University Education (EPU) and sport activities like zumba.
This year, we payed special attention to raising awareness in the medical community, in order to remind them to tell women to get preventive screenings and to inform them on the different treatment options available in Mahajanga. We hope that this celebration will have a real impact on the population and the medical community and that it will help to fight cancer in Mahajanga.
We want to thank all our partners and supporters who have participated to this celebration: the CROM (Regional Medical Board Council); the oncology and gynaecological departments of the CHU PZAGA Hospital; the Faculty of Medicine of Mahajanga; the “Djambo” Zumba group and the Boeny Red Cross.
