The Foundation’s medical team just completed an arduous 25-day mission that spanned 8 cities across the South of Madagascar, including Tuléar, Betioky, Ampanihy, Tsihombe, Ambovombe, Amboasary, Fort Dauphin and Manantenina, where we carried out important actions to prevent and diagnose breast and uterine cancers – some of the most dangerous diseases threatening women’s health and wellbeing.
Our mission reached thousands of women, who were offered a complete prevention and early diagnosis package within the framework of our “Pink and Turquoise Program”, including awareness campaigns, Pap-tests, breast exams, mammograms, and biopsies when necessary, to guarantee an equitable and inclusive access to healthcare and prevention.
This mission was especially difficult due to the complex nature of the targeted area: the South of Madagascar includes some of the country’s most disadvantaged and remote areas and, in recent years, has been hit by what has been widely considered the world’s first “climate change famine”, affecting millions of individuals. Nevertheless, our Mobile Unit covered thousands of kilometers, thanks to the dedication and preparation of our devoted team, reaching thousands with life-changing medical care.
