“The humanitarian actions that my family, my team and I have developed through the Akbaraly Foundation come from the great affection we have for Madagascar, which is our country. My dream is to see all Malagasy people live a dignified life, and to see children be the change this country needs”.
With these words Cinzia Catalfamo Akbaraly, President of the Akbaraly Foundation, introduced the landmark agreement signed on September 9 with the United Nations Population Fund, dedicated to the protection of women’s health and well-being.
In particular, this partnership between the Akbaraly Foundation and UNFPA aims to reduce maternal mortality, promote family planning, protect women’s health, promote cancer prevention, prevent and treat gynecological fistulas and reduce gender-based violence.
“Today we come together to perform, once again, a miracle: the miracle of life that wins over despair, of men and women united in a single humanity that wins over pain, of love that wins over everything”, concluded the President.
This is an agreement of fundamental importance for Madagascar, where 1 in 4 women are still victims of violence and where most women do not have access to medical care, and for the Foundation, which celebrates over a decade of activity on the field dedicated to the well-being and health of women and children.
